We have been building quality vehicles and providing service support to the school and route bus industry for over 60 years. With the industry and world changing and a push for zero emission vehicles, we are currently producing Australia's only fully designed, engineered and built electric bus which is currently operating in the market.

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in St Marys.

About You:

  • Completed a technical degree at Bachelor and/or Master level in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or comparable
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical & structural design area
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in using 3D CAD design and drawing using Solidworks or similar software at advanced level
  • Experience in Solidworks design table driven parts
  • Experience in Solidworks weldment design assembly and parts
  • Ability to design mechanical components and also surface design
  • Knowledge of AS1100 drawing standards
  • You have a passion for automotive and are aware of developments and trends in this field of expertise
  • You are familiar with cooperating with other development departments like Electrical, Software controls, Purchasing and Manufacturing & Assembly

Desirable experience:

  • Preferred experience in designing & analysing of bus chassis and body structural system.
  • Analysing bus body structure using Ansys or similar software.
  • Design for manufacture and assembly of bus body structural system.
  • Determination of COM of bus and axle load calculation.
  • Knowledge of Australian Design Standards.
  • Experience in preparation of assembly drawing for fabrication and detailed drawing to AS1100 standard.
  • Experience in welding & fabrication process and application of welding standards.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process related to sheet metal and plastic parts.
  • Knowledge of materials properties and application and be able to choose appropriate type of material for construction of bus chassis or body system.
  • Provide technical guidance as required in relation to manufacturing or processing techniques.
  • Experience in designing sub systems such as battery carrier, luggage bin door & sealing system.
  • Experience in designing chassis system and system components to meet relevant loads.
  • Load estimation to design chassis components.
  • Knowledge and experience in bus body rollover design verification & ADR calculation.
  • Understanding of door systems and mechanisms.
  • Assist in BOM creation and manufacturing to enable achieve better outcomes to meet production deadline.
