Production Manager

Based in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, Custom Denning is currently on a very exciting journey when it comes to pioneering the way for locally manufactured electric vehicles in Australia. We are currently working very closely with the NSW government to support government infrastructure plans of transitioning NSW buses from diesel to an electric fleet by 2035.

This initiative is a key ingredient towards contributing to a cleaner future of transport through zero emission vehicles. 

 

The Opportunity:

We are currently looking for an experienced Production Manager to assist us in managing the day-to-day operational requirements of our St Mary's production line for bus assembly.  This role will be strongly supported by the Head of Operations and a team of Production Supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuous improvement initiatives through process improvement, training, and mentoring.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the production line, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor production output and quality to identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement and manufacturing, to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to coordinate, plan and delegate daily work responsibilities to manufacturing employees.Train and mentor production line staff to ensure they are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
  • Implement and maintain performance metrics to track production KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices to ensure the production line remains competitive and efficient.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in production management, with a minimum of 8 in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on driving results.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and production management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
