About us

Custom Bus Group has been building buses in Sydney since 1955. With over 65 years’ experience it is Australia’s oldest bus builder and Sydney’s only full bus builder. Over the last 2 years we have developed the first Australian operational Electric Bus "The Element". This bus has now commenced production which will see over 100 electric buses built in the first year. We are looking to strengthen our mechanical team to both build and support our electric vehicle chassis. This opportunity will enable the right candidates to work for one of Australia’s only vehicle OEM’s that will grow your skill base into electric vehicle mechanics in a growing forward-thinking business that offers growth and job opportunities to the right candidates. Trading will be provided for mechanics wishing to enhance their electrical skills.

Qualifications & experience

  • Experience working on truck and buses is desirable
  • Vehicle Mechanic qualification(s)
  • Competent and reliable
  • Drivers license

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Install, service, maintain, adjust, or repair vehicle equipment or components utilising the necessary tools, equipment, and facilities in a safe and efficient manner within the expected job times. This includes but not limited to, axles, suspension, steering, braking systems, air systems and electrical systems.
  • Ensuring that all repairs and maintenance are performed to the expected standard.
  • Apply the company’s policies in respect of maintenance practice and standards to ensure these are implemented and that maximum benefit is obtained in terms of vehicle availability and minimising total maintenance costs.
  • To attend customer premises or breakdown as required.
  • Working on our electric bus production line, which includes the installation of axles, braking, steering. suspension and electrical installation.
  • Installation and commissioning of battery packs.
  • Service support to bus operators as required. This will include diagnosing faults and changing components as necessary.
  • You will be expected to be part of a call out Roster for the support of our customers (bus operators) during evenings and weekends.
